Program
ConfConf uses the unconference format, where participants provide most of the content themselves and there is only a minimal programme.
To help kickstart the event, we’ll start with a round of introductions so everyone can meet their fellow participants and the organisations they represent.
Each day opens with a short remark, but beyond that, the content comes from the participants.
At the start of each day, participants write topics on a flipchart (which can be added to throughout the day). Periodically, everyone gathers in the main room where up to four discussion groups are formed, then breaks out into the discussion rooms.
Finally, at the end of each day, we close with a group wrap-up session, where everyone is invited to share key takeaways.
Topics
To spark ideas, here are some possible discussion topics:
- Shaping the programme – How do you select content? Do you set themes or let them emerge? Do you scout speakers or wait for submissions?
- Growing your audience – How do you attract attendees and reach underrepresented groups? How do you manage volunteers and enforce a code of conduct?
- Funding & ethics – How do you raise money through donations, sponsorships, or merchandise while keeping things transparent? How much say should sponsors have?
- Tech & logistics – What tools and infrastructure do you rely on? How do you handle video, streaming, and on-site operations?
These are just suggestions, any topic that fits the Conference for Conference Organisers theme is welcome.
Timing
On both days, the conference rooms are open from 09:00 onward, with the start of the conference scheduled for 09:30. Wrap-up is scheduled for 17:30.
Don’t despair, discussions can still continue over dinner.
